What is the best part of your job?

I enjoy creating long term spending/retirement plans. Evaluating when someone can retire and how much they can spend. I like discussing long term options with clients. It’s nice when they can be reassured that their plan will work out or that they can do something different that they had not considered.

What is your best and worst financial decision?

Best financial decision: Starting to invest in early in my career. My mother was a financial advisor who started this firm in the 80’s. With her help, I bought my first stock when I was about 12 years old.

Worst financial decision: For me, it was buying a rental property. I bought it in 2005 and sold it in 2020 for very little gain. It barely made money even though it didn’t have a manager or mortgage. It took more time than I wanted to spend on keeping it occupied and organizing maintenance.

What are you working on?

I’m always looking at financial planning software to have the best client experience possible. It’s wonderful that there are new options all the time that help us provide a better service.

What's your favorite financial tip?

Don’t chase trends; stick to your strategy.

There seem to be more fad strategies promising to make you rich without any effort than every but don’t let that distract you from your goals and your plan to get there.
